The Real Story of Jesus

This is it! The Mary Magdalene Within brings alive the real love of God through the incarnate Jesus in a way that has never before been described. It is the love of God expressed through the story of the living man Jesus as he loves the living woman Mary Magdalene and through this ordinary yet miraculous relationship reaches God's oneness--- man with woman both in and of God --- true love. It is a love we as humans can embrace and understand.

As a Christian from birth and a woman, my personal struggle has been to understand Jesus' message in a way that is meaningful to my life. In my experience and in the experiences of many, many women the church's teachings have felt hollow, unapproachable, and abstract. I was taught that Jesus' love was an ethical love. I said hundreds of times, "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost" --- two men and a genderless and disembodied spirit. This was a sort of love I could not understand and had never experienced. How could this love apply to me and my life?

Joan Norton in this book has shown us the complete story of God's love experienced through Jesus and his love for Mary. It is a deep and stunning story that corrects and humanizes the sanitized modern version of Christianity that has left out the females and the feminine. this is a very interesting and controversial book. I read it after I read The Expected

One by Kathleen Mcgowan..which I resonated with very strongly..this book is a channeled book.. it tells of the deep and passionated love between Jesus and Mary Magdalene...It is beautiful, sensual and esotereic in it's approach..I believe this kind of information will become more and more available as the feminie principal is restored as the missing link of true Christianity..

A beautiful addition to the body of Magdalene material...

Joan Norton has created something truly special with her small but mighty book. This lovely, experiential account of Mary Magdalene, her days with Jesus, and their teachings together is layered with wisdom and beauty. A must read for those who are on this path of discovery.

Let me also say that as a trained investigative journalist and researcher, I do not normally embrace channelled material quickly or openly. However, Joan's book feels incredibly pure to me and I found all of my reservations melting rapidly away as I read. In fact, while my own research on Mary Magdalene brought me to some very different conclusions, I realized while reading Joan's book that none of that mattered. It is the message that matters - a message of divine union and love, of restoring balance and equality, of making that kind of harmony the natural state for all people - that truly matters. The rest is just details. I am finding that Mary and her message speak to everyone in a unique and personal way, all of which are valid and fascinating.

With that realization, Joan's work truly taught me something powerful for which I am very grateful.

I also applaud the layout of this book. The short chapters make it a perfect tool for meditation and/or teaching, something that I think is unique in the currently available Magdalene material.

Margaret Starbird, the brilliant author and pioneer of Mary Magdalene's legacy, calls this "a remarkable book." I couldn't agree more.

About the Author

Dan Pilone is a Software Architect with SFA, Inc., cofounder and president of Zizworks, Inc. and a terrible rock climber. He has designed and implemented systems for Hughes, ARINC, UPS, and the Naval Research Laboratory. When not writing for O'Reilly, he teaches Software Design and Software Engineering at The Catholic University in Washington DC. Originally writing in C and C++, he has moved into the blissful world of managed code with Java and C#. He has had several articles published by Intelligent Enterprise and Java Developer's Journal on software process, consulting in the software industry, and 3D graphics in Java.

The content is good, but the images are very badly prepared and ...

The content is good, but the images are very badly prepared and placed in the ebook.

There are a lot of horizontal and vertical lines in the images and because of very bad image scaling into "bitmap" format a lot of these lines are just not there... And to make things even worse position of the images is often a few pages ("ebook pages") away from the text that is describing them. Diagrams where you can see only 50 % of the details or diagrams where you have to jump a few pages forward and backward just ruins the "user experience"...

If someone from the publisher actually read the ebook they prepared (and actually cared what they are selling) I am sure they would have fixed it.

My suggestion to O'Reilly is to recreate the images in some kind of vector format and to place all of the images close to the text where it is described.

Of course it is possible that the problem with bad resolution of the images is caused by Android Kindle app on a 720p screen.

I finished book pretty fast. I had some raw background in UML

I finished book pretty fast. I had some raw background in UML. You will understand NOTHING if you do not try to do something with it right away. Think of some of your existing project and how you can model it with given information. The whole book includes 12 chapters but I would say that 6 of them are almost useless. I would recommend you read: 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 10. Also, diagrams are not properly ordered... any project is started with Use Case Diagrams, as they give you an idea what your product should be able to do. Then you need Activity Diagrams... then you may need Sequence Diagrams for some of Activity Diagrams and finally Class Diagrams... check in which order they write them. Also, first 3 chapters are well written, with practical examples, but at the end the examples are very general, so you cannot fallow writer. Anyway, not bad indeed!

The O'Reilly Nutshell series has always served me well for inexpensive reference material. While not exhaustively in-depth, it is exactly as advertised: enough background to give you a good working knowledge, while having enough information to be a decent reference down the road.

I'm a software engineer, so I've been exposed to UML fairly regularly, but it doesn't require a highly technical background and could be used as a good supplement to an undergrad course. It's not "the bible," but that's not why you get O'Reilly books. You get them to give you that extra nudge on something you don't need to write a doctoral thesis over without a lot of resources. If you go in understanding that, you'll be happy with that (or most O'Reilly purchases).

Henry is a tidy little pig who can’t stand disorder. He sweeps and cleans, frowning when he observes the rest of the farm from the window of his neat little sty. “Tsk, tsk. What a mess the farm was! / How could anybody ever find anything out there?” He resolves to make a map of every animal in its proper, orderly place. Sheep clap their hooves, and the cow, horse, and chickens chortle with glee when they see themselves on Henry’s simply rendered map. A humorous double-page spread shows the proud Henry, map in hand, leading all the animals up the hill in marching order. But when they don’t see themselves below, the animals tumble riotously back down the hill and scurry back to their proper place, thereby comfortingly ending the day. Paintings in pencil and watercolor lovingly show the idyllic farm and its expressive animals as their emotions range from delight to dismay and back to delight again. When he realizes that the farm outside his sty is a mess, he worries that no one will be able to find anything. His solution is to draw a map. Going from the sheep's woolshed to the cow pasture to the stable and the chicken coop, Henry shows his growing creation to the animals along the way. The animals are excited to see sketches of themselves and soon join the cartography expedition, ending on the hill above the farm. The parade, with chickens and sheep taking a ride on horses and Henry's little trotters leading the way, sets the tone for comedy. When the livestock reach the top of the hill to compare the map to the actual farm, they are horrified to see that, while the map (and the hill) is filled with animals, the farm is empty! Racing back, the group checks each place and finds that now-miraculously-the animals are back in their places. Phew! Henry's face, often filled with a worried scowl, allows readers to feel his need for order. Detailed pencil-and-watercolor illustrations add to the comedic timing, especially when Henry finds his face in the mirror, in the sty, right where he belongs. A Mellow Tale of Community with a Delicate Touch

The cover illustration pretty fairly catches the vibe of this mellow gem. Henry the pig is organized and is a little nonplussed by how disorganized the farm appears to be. He decides to draw a map, starting with his own tidy little sty. (The signature humor in this book is of that variety - Henry has a very clean and tidy pig sty.) Then, Henry walks around the farm mapping out everyone else's home. The sheep want in on the project; the cow wants to be on the map; the horse, and so on. Everyone helps Henry and they join him in "surveying" the farm, their home.

What you get is this cheerful and pleasant pig, who is happy to answer questions about his project and include everybody else, and then the rest of the farm gang getting into the spirit of the project.

So, in a brief and simple tale you have some charming characters, an introduction to the idea of maps, (you see Henry's map growing place by place as he draws it), a functional society, cheerful cooperation and pride in one's home and community. And none of this is heavyhanded, or even that obvious. That's a lot to get out of a pre-reader picture book.

The whole enterprise is aided greatly by the drawings, which are mostly pen and pencil with some pastel coloring, but which are very expressive. Elliot draws and establishes distinct characters, a romantically realistic farmstead, and an amusingly amateurish sketch map as drawn by Henry, which adds a lot more variety than you usually find in this type of project.

The upshot is that this was a very happy find, and makes a rewarding read to or read with addition to the family library.

Sweet and simple...a keeper!

Henry's Map is a cute book with happy illustrations and silly characters. The kids enjoyed it so much we had to read it repeated right away. I used this as an introduction to map drawing so the kids (5yr olds) could do like Henry and make their own maps. Like another reviewer noted, this story could have used a couple more maps to really make it more map-centric, and all the maps are squiggly hand-drawn not-to-any-scale simple maps. Perfect intro IMO for kids to realize what maps are meant to tell us...not great for more complicated map lessons. I love this book with its sweet story. It's a keeper.

Fun story that teaches map skills to young children.

I used this book during my farm unit to teach map skills. The children were intrigued right to the end of the story, and loved the silliness as each group of animals wondered why they couldn't see themselves on the farm from the top of the hill. This is an excellent book for teaching young children about perspective when looking at a map.

Great stuff.

I found Part 1 of the book particularly useful, helping to focus on self-worth. Understanding that embarrassment is a choice and believing in feedback rather than failure are lessons I'll take to the grave. You could read many of these types of books and in total they wouldn't give what this one does. The book contains lots of practical tips and exercises that are useful in both personal and professional life. Since I finished reading the book I've referenced back it on a number of occasions. I really enjoyed this book and I've recommended it to a number of colleagues.

I've read a fair amount of books within the area of Self Development! This book is the best I've read, so far!! It is packed with very effective exercises and advices. I changed my way of thinking and communicating, immediately - and it works! You can read as many books you want to, and attend as many courses you want to, no matter what you do: you have to love yourself and you have to treat yourself as the most important person in your life. This book will teach you how to love yourself and most of all it will teach you to become a better version of you

About the Author
Ocean Vuong�is the author of Night Sky with Exit Wounds (Copper Canyon Press, 2016). His poems appear in Kenyon Review, The Nation, New Republic, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Poetry, and The American Poetry Review, which awarded him the�Stanley�Kunitz Prize for Younger Poets. Born in Saigon, Vietnam, he lives in New York City.

Powerful and unforgettable! LOVE!

Mesmerizing, unforgettable, and a heart open in your hand. Vuong holds back nothing. This is one to reread and keep on the desk. To hold tight to the connection of why we write!

"When our lips touched the day closed
into a coffin. In the museum of the heart

there are two headless people building a burning house.
There was always the shotgun above..."

"Depending on where you stand
your name can sound like a full moon
shredded in a dead doe's pelt.
Your name changed when touched
by gravity. Gravity breaking
our kneecaps just to show us
the sky. Why did we
keep saying Yes–
even with all those birds.
Who would believe us
now? My voice cracking
like bones inside the radio.
Silly me. I thought love was real..."

Rewarding from the start, I will read over and over. Describing his life as a refugee, to a country that might not accept him now was bittersweet. Trying to find my way in his poetry has given me some perspective on that struggle.

Incredibly Powerful, Emotionally Descriptive and Superbly Imaged

Ocean's writing is incredibly powerful, emotionally descriptive and superbly imaged. Taking events and objects that are not generally seen as subjects for poetic writing, he has found a way to carry his message directly to the readers' hearts. Aubade With Burning City will continue to haunt me with its use of the popular Christmas carol, "White Christmas," to frame the frightening and tragic emergency evacuation of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam war as experienced by the common man and woman. I hope that Night Sky with Exit Wounds is only the first of many collections of Ocean's writing that will be offered to the reading public.
