Where were the 'tools'?

There are some interesting antidotes from the author's life here but I didn't really see any 'tools' to take away. Basically, Lops says, 'don't be negative'. He does talk about some basic principles like time management and letting go of the past- nothing new in the arena of self help books. The book is an easy read and mildly entertaining. I'm just not sure that it offers anything substantial or lives up to it's title. I received a free copy as part of the Goodreads First Read Giveaway program.

This is a really terrific book! It really spoke to me, in a very natural way. I was very engaged. I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Lops personal stories, which were sprinkled with humor, yet very insightful to me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a boost! I zipped through it. Hopefully he will write others.

Well written reminder of what we should be doing

This 240-page book covers the key issues for managing project teams. It covers the full range of issues and provides advice for managing project change, team dynamics and cultural diversity, and developing effective project teams.
It goes into areas such as how to inspire team performance, and how to develop self-managed work teams, then transform them into self-motivated project teams. It also contains self-assessment exercises that are valuable checkpoints as you follow the advice in the book.
Most of the advice is common sense, but the material should be read by every practicing project manager at least once a year for a reminder of what's important.

Great all-around chess book.

Wonderful chess book! Covers history, rules, skills, and tactics. The 700 photos & illustrations are almost worth the price alone. It's basically a chess encyclopedia. It has a little bit of everything, but not too much to overwhelm. I concentrate on chess problems mostly, but wanted a reliable chess reference. I found it nicely with this book. If possible, find it at a local library to page through before you buy it to make sure it has what you are looking for. In the end, this was the best general chess book I have ever read.

I bought this book in late December and used it to review with throughout January. I took my ASCP MLT exam yesterday and passed. This book is awesome at giving you the meat and potatoes of all the subjects. It also does a great job of giving you charts to help you memorize and recall the things that differentiate microbes, parasites, or anemia types and key lab findings from one another. It has stories and mnemonics that help you recall info, too! Great book and it was very helpful for my ascp exam! The BOC book repeats questions and has incorrect answers in the back of the book. LabCE likes to repeat questions, sometimes even during the exam you are currently taking. While this book had a few small errors, my copy came with a print out of what the errors were and what you needed to change them to. Wonderful book! Stellar!

Great for MLS program/BOC Exam

As a former MLS student, I have to say this book is awesome! I have problems flat out memorizing facts and I take advantage of little memory tricks and mnemonics when I can. Let me say, this book was perfect for me. It has little stories and rhymes, pictures and songs to help remember things like TSI slant reactions, warm/cold antibodies for blood bank, hypothyroidism vs hyperthyroidism, etc.

Now, I must say that the book in a whole is an outline over all the material and shouldn't be used as the only book you should study from (I used mine in conjunction with my class notes, textbooks etc.). Plus, I found that there were subjects missing from the book, like the different vitamins and quality control aspects. Other than that, I would highly recommend this book.

As a microbiology tech at a medium sized hospital, I recommend this book to every MLS student that comes through on their clinical rotation. This is a good review if you like acronyms

This is a good review if you like acronyms. There are simple ones that you will never forget and there are more complex ones that may or may not help you. The best way to use this book is to study the material in the ASCP BOC study guide or the MLS review by Robert Harr (excellent) prior to learning quick acronyms. In other words, your knowledge base should be well rounded before using this book so that you understand concepts and are not just memorizing facts.

I have already read this book but I bought it jut to pass it around to make sure more people read it. I have no doubt that this book is capable of changing your life if somebody reads it with open heart and mind. I can not recommend enough this boos; it's pure dynamite!
