Good Information, Lousy Editing

I considered giving this book only 2 stars due to the atrocious editing and organization of this edition, although the information contained within is rather valuable. The problem is, the editing is so poor that a clear understanding of the basic principles that the book aims to convey is too often obscured or misconstrued. Specifically, the test sections throughout the book are so bad that they often feel contradictory to and/or destructive of the information conveyed in the text.

For example, when taking one of the end-of-chapter tests, I spent a lot of time going back through the chapter to figure out the correct answer for a particular question. I was fairly confident I knew the answer, but the poor phrasing of the question and answer choices (a common occurrence throughout the book) urged me to go back through the chapter to verify the information. After many frustrating minutes of pouring back over the relevant sections, I determined that the specific information pertaining to the question simply wasn't there and decided to go with my original answer and move on to the next chapter. Imagine my dismay to find that the specific information I had searched for appeared within the first few paragraphs of that NEXT chapter. These are the kinds of editing mistakes that are prevalent throughout this edition, and they make for a rather dismal learning experience much of the time.

It's an okay product, but def. not ONE MILLION tats in here

The book has all the flash in it and the CD allows you to customize the flash sheet, by letting you choose the ones you want on it. Although it allows you to do that it is not ONE MILLION tattoos, it is the same set of flash you just change the arrangement of it.

It is interesting.

I bought this book thinking this will be really nice for someone like me who is artistically challenged. It is a really nice book there are a ton of amazing drawings in it that can really give you a great idea on what to make your next tattoo look like. I would say that the only downfall is that you have to already have some kind of an image editing software on your computer to really use the cd. I do not really have anything on my computer like that so all I can do is just look at the images and rearrange them but it definitly does give you a starting point and then you could at least take a potential idea to an artist. I do really like all of the images in the book though it gives you a very broad range of ideas.

This product did arrive fast, but it lacked in quality. It is not a tattoo 'creator' or 'designer'. It is simply pick and choose from their clip art. You cant even choose where to click and drag images. They are low resolution and not detailed. The only control you would have is to choose the color but there was a problem with the software I received and it did not function properly.

No more excuses!

What a simple, elegant concept - thinking inside the box - the precept shattering perspective behind The Houdini Solution. Not only is it brilliant, it's damn true. The best ideas often do happen in the box, and, with all the realities beyond our control, if you can't succeed there, well, good luck.

As a creative thinking coach, weekly I work in different industries helping people find fresh ideas. I have yet to encounter an area in business - hell, any area of human endeavor - that doesn't have to deal with a box, be it the boss' preconceptions, the industry's regulations, the budget, the deadline, whatever. Ernie Schenck points out, in story after story, illustration after illustration, some very big ideas that emerged not only in spite of the box, but frequently because of it. I won't steal the thunder here. Read the book. The only major flaw most readers might find between these pages is that it takes away almost all your excuses for not having great ideas.

No Escaping It

It's one thing to come up with a provocative insight. It's quite another to make a case for it so airtight Houdini himself would have a hard time wriggling out of it. But that's what Mr. Schenck does here. His core premise flies in the face of conventional wisdom: that rather than trying to "think outside the box", one is far more likely to arrive at genuinely creative, innovative solutions by making the most of what's "inside the box." In other words, all those things that are normally considered to be impediments to the process--short deadlines, minuscule budgets, recalcitrant clients and tight strategies--can actually be inspirational providing they are looked at in the right way, a point he drives home again and again with instructive examples and amusing anecdotes. All of which may come as a rude awakening to the many corporations and advertising agencies that subscribe to this "out of the box" notion. (And employ legions to consultants to steer them in the direction of this mythical destination.) But if it motivates a few of them to get out of this "box" trap, they'll have the inside track to more creative, innovative ideas.

Absolutely a stunner of a book!!!!

*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest

Ahh, okay, I must address this first, this book ends with one HECK of a cliff
hanger. S.J. Sawyer, what are you doing to your readers?!?!?! *sigh* Okay, so
the book was incredible, absolutely fun, sweet, sexy in places, and then
BOOM! Get book four ready before you read book three. You'll thank me!

As you probably already know, this is just a continuation of the first two
books, getting us closer to the end of the summer and the start of the school
year. Mason and Red are continuing with their relationship and figuring out
their developing and blooming feelings. They are trying to figure out if there is
more to them than just hot and heavy lust. It's a must read. One thing I must
say is "Salt the pickles?!" You'll understand once you read the story. It's a cute
and funny little blip between the two.

This book expands on more than just Red and Mason though, which I loved.
You learn more about the girls, their friendships, and a bit of history about
them. You get a glimpse into the craziness that occurs between the four girls
when they are alone, like the best way not to open a wine bottle when you
don't have a corkscrew.

I enjoyed the path the author took with this story and the expansion upon the
girls in the story. It kind of refresh the story a bit and kept it from getting "too"
drawn out between Mason and Red. It answered lingering questions that were
floating around. It also showed the bond between the other characters. Great
job S.J.

I can't wait to get my hands on book four. It's an absolute must and until I do
I might just be a *bit* upset with the author. Such a great series, you must read it!!!

Phenomenal! Can't wait for the next one!

S.J. did it again. Every time she manages to amaze me. Fix Your Makeup definitely didn't let me down. It had it all. Laughs. Love. Sex. From the start you are pulled in with the humor and complete realness of the characters. You can completely relate to one or more of them. Mason is one of my favorite book boyfriends with his sweet southern charm and I'm jealous of Red on a regular basis. Mary Lou is up to even more shenanigans which has me laughing the entire time.

Lots of major information is revealed in this book that puts their friendships and relationships to the test. Can they survive all that is thrown their way? You'll have to read to find out. I for one am counting down the days until Say a Prayer for the great finale of this serial.

Oh sweet baby Jesus, this book is 5 freaking stars!! I love this series so hard,it's quickly becoming one of my all time favorite's. If you love books that will have you laughing your a$$ off one page and crying the next and then throw in some hot scenes then this is definitely a series for you! I think that Ms.Sawyer could write a dozen of these books and I would read them.
This book continues from the others. Red and Mason are still continues their "summer fling" and learning different things from the past. And of course we have the crazy best friend Mary Lou,who needs her own book!! I don't want to give to much away because if you haven't read this series you definitely need to get on that and if you have oh lordy be prepared this book is going wreck you! The way this book is written is so good it keeps drawing you in. I finished this book in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down! I definitely recommend this series!
