Very clear information on tailbone pain. Excellent resource for patients and their families.

I am a senior who has suffered from tail bone pain. My experience has been that it is tricky to both diagnose and treat. I found this book to be a great source of information to supplement what I hear from my doctor. Perhaps because of my age or slower thinking, I don't seem to digest all the information I get during office visits with my MD. Dr Foye's book with its clear explanations have helped my get a better overall view of my condition. I find the illustrations particularly helpful. I can read and reread it as needed and to explain what is happening to my long-distance children. It is written in easy to understand terms with using medical jargon which is very helpful to a non-medical person. This will help me be a better informed patient and hopefully access better care!

If Your Back or Butt Hurts, get this Book!

This is an excellent resource for ANYONE who is suffering from tailbone issues. The huge plus is that it is written by an MD who specializes in tailbones ... not just another chiro who deals with "back pain" or the family doc who really is clueless to what is really going on. I bought a copy for my daughter who fell years ago and has had continued pain. Personally, I was clueless about all the problems that may be behind what causes it--from childbirth, infections, falls, joint issues, arthritis (I didn't know that could happen), cancer and so much more. My take-away is that the tailbone is far more critical to our over-all well being than few are aware of. A small fracture can easily radiate out to surrounding tissues and other parts. Many think of it as a dinosaurian part ... but the fact is, it's part of what's inside of us--we all need to know what to look for in symptoms and where to get help. I like the section on the different types of xrays you need (so not the standard ones) and critical questions to ask your doctor. It's delivered in four sections: causes, treatments, special situations and a summing up. With winter coming on (snow and ice falls), I'll be recommending this book to all.

Valuable information you can't find elsewhere

This book is a must read for anyone dealing with undiagnosed/underdiagnosed tailbone pain. I spent the last 2-1/2 year struggling with pain from an undiagnosed tumor because I did not know the information in this book, and neither did my doctors. Despite a decent amount of personal research, I still didn't know many of the underlying issues outlined in this book that could potentially be causing my pain, or what proper imaging tests to push for in order to find out. This book was an eye opener and I wish I had read it sooner.

It wasn't until i was referred to Dr. Foye this year that I had proper x-rays to reveal the tumor that, like Susan's in this book, is a Chordoma destroying my tailbone and lower sacrum, causing my chronic pain. Dr. Foye is a wonderful doctor and this book passes along his valuable knowledge to individuals so that they can be proactive in their care. Doctors don't always have all the answers, especially about tailbone pain, so self education is essential. Reading this book gave me more information than I could find elsewhere about all kinds of tailbone pain, diagnosis, and treament.

About the Author
As an entertainment industry veteran, Aaron Powell has worked briefly in front of the camera and very successfully behind the scenes representing some of the biggest names in television, radio, music, books, and film. He started out as a dancer in old-school hip hop videos and in New York City clubs. He met a lot of aspiring actors at dance auditions and in the clubs and eventually got bit by the acting bug and began auditioning for everything, including a few Spike Lee movies. On an audition, he met a casting director who encouraged him to follow all his dreams but to have a back-up plan and suggested he look into the world of public relations. He followed her advice and eventually landed a internship at ARISTA Records, whose roster at the time included Whitney Houston, TLC, Annie Lennox, Aretha Franklin and Carly Simon, to name a few. After ARISTA, Powell worked at one of the most prominent black-owned PR Firms in N.Y., where the owner took him under his wing and taught him the ins and outs of publicity. He worked for various radio and TV personalities and was an independent publicist for record labels like TOMMY BOY and ULTRA Records. He also did publicity for TV personality Wendy Williams (for her novel, Ritz Harper Goes to Hollywood ). Powell also worked as a publicist for the late groundbreaking author E. Lynn Harris (for his final mainstream novel, Mama Dearest).

A book that whispers, writhes and screams ....

Poet and spoken word artist Aaron Powell's debut release "Behind Concrete Doors" is a tiny book that hits like a kick in the nuts. Whispers, thoughts and screams from dark corners where sexuality is cloaked in subterfuge, where manly homies hump each other but dare never tell, where secret thoughts of men and boys are flayed and laid bare for the entire world to see.

Aaron Powell's little book is perfect tucked in those nooks where the reader can get a quick fix of the shockingly real world of Blatino life on the down low, with all its lust, deceit, poignancy and pain.

It is certainly a book designed to lustfully re-visit again and again. ~

Now I know what's Behind Door #1

JKing-Garcia (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) I've been waiting so long to get my copy of this book, and when I finally did I saw a few titles that caught my eye. Aaron spoke of things that we as a society only think about on a day to day basis. It's the truth but has a funny twist to it as well. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is curious about the gay life or even if you want to know what Aaron is thinking.(Smiles) Either way, I'm sure you will enjoy every line from start to finish.

An amazing read from start to finish makes you want more and more. This collection of short poems really spoke to me especially the poem "Mother, May I..." this has always been something that i've wanted to say to my own mother but I never had the balls to say it, this author has a wonderful way of captivating his audience and I can't wait to see what he has in store for us next.

OK but also buy others

The book is pretty good and I am keeping it for reference but most of the information and forms can be found at ownerbuilderbook.com. Amazon also sells his books and it is worth purchasing any of them. But, if you want a simple and fairly detailed overview of what is involved in building a house I would suggest getting any copy of "How to Build a House - Habitat for Humanity". You probably want to spend more money on your house but the book really has lots of suggestions on quality versus costs. Those guys build all over the world and really know how to explain the basics. It's the little short cuts in a roof, foundation or framing that haunt you down the road. Do not assume a GC or Sub will not cut corners.

Buy several books and enjoy the highs and lows of project management.

Lots of info, bad on kindle

Although this book has some decent info in it for someone who has never worked construction, the real value is the organization forms in the back of the book. The only problem is, the forms are useless in the kindle version. As a matter of fact, the forms are not even legible in the kindle version. The most disappointing thing is, in the book, it says you can go to the books website, "selfmadehomes.com", and download forms and updated documents. I went to this website and only found more stuff for sale. I even tried to contact the author via the email address listed on the website only to have them return because they no longer existed! Feeling a little ripped off and planning on contacting amazon for a return.

(Book review disclaimer: I have a few years experience in construction)
As for the content of the book: it is jammed pack full of info. Although you won't use have of the info, it does cover most areas that you will encounter. This is more of a strategy book as opposed to tactics book, meaning it won't teach how to wire a switch but how to deal with the electrician. I would caution the reader that if you do everything the book tells you, you may look like a dork in the eyes of the tradesman.

So in closing, this book does have value...but not in the kindle version!

Advertised supplemental info is not provided....

The information in the book is good as are the checklists and other forms. However, I rated as 2 stars for two reasons:

(1) Because it indicates that the readers can find, "updates on construction technology, supplemental forms and checklists, and a forum where you can interact with other aspiring self made builders and homeowners" at the www.selfmadehomes.com website. However, none of that is available on the website, which appears to be an unattended site for selling books, not a tool for builders.

(2) When I messaged the author on Facebook to see if it was possible to obtain electronic copies of the forms and checklists I thought were promised to be on the selfmadehomes.com website, but I received no response.

It is disappointing to have such great checklists and forms in the book, but for it to be difficult to use those forms for an actual construction process without manual re-typing them into Word or Excel (it would be necessary to make small modifications to the forms before using them with my subs).

For those reasons, I rate this 2 stars. I will update this review if either of the above two items changes.
